Loews Hotels Are Embracing Local Flavors

the lowes hotel, annapolisLoews hotels wants all its guests across the U.S. to dine like they live there.

Starting this spring, each hotel is paying homage to its respective city by hosting lots of hyper-local food and beverage producers inside its four walls.

The Annapolis Loews, for instance, is participating in the new “Flavor by Loews Hotels” program by serving up a taste of the town via Roseda beef, Heavy Seas Beer, and Annapolis Ice Cream. The on-site restaurant Baroak serves up Maryland-inspired cuisine, with a menu packed with burgers, fries, and local craft beers. The new Flavor program, first born at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel earlier this year, is spreading out across the brand’s portfolio all spring.

Here’s a little about each area brand on board at the Annapolis Loews:

The booze.Heavy Seas produces 18 different beer styles that can be found in 18 states. plus D.C. Drink like an anchored Annapolis sailor and guzzle the Loose Cannon — a strong (7.25-percent ABV) pour popular at Eastport’s wood cabin dive bar Davis’s Pub. The team is hosting a monthly #ThirstyThursdays at Baroak to sample its latest brews (as temps rise, the TropiCannon is a good seasonal bet).

The sweets. Walter and Nancy Giera officially opened the doors to Annapolis Ice Cream Company in 2004, and Baroak’s signature sundae features their best sellers. “Who doesn’t love great ice cream in a nautically-focused town on the water?” says executive chef Adam Cho.

Loews HotelThis hotel overall is pretty cool. It’s newly renovated and sports a bright and seafaring theme throughout, with dangling boat rope decor upon entry. It was a breeze checking in, and the room was ready immediately for us. I was able to squeeze in a little laptop work at the big work space (located in each room). The bathrooms were more than spacious, stocked all of the toiletries I had forgotten — including face wipes — and the shower head had perfect pressure to wake me up in the morning. Some of the suites overlook its inside courtyard area, and ours got a view of that plus the pull-up valet area. Some awesome restaurants within a stone’s throw distance include hip sushi hangout Tsunami and small plates mecca Level.
