I’m not an outdoorsy type of girl, so when people ask me to go and do things like hiking, water rafting, or camping, my answer is usually mmm NOPE! Lol. But glamping is a bit different. I just went on my first glamping experience, and I’m happy to report that it won’t be my last. Thanks to Glamping Hub you are able to discover and book so many beautiful places around the world to go glamping with your friends, family, or significant other. For our glamping experience, we decided to go with a cabin, but Glamping Hub has other choices (such as tree houses, tipis, huts, and more)! They even have a special section where you can find pet-friendly places so your furry child can also enjoy the outdoors with you.
Arrival: Since I did not necessarily want to fly somewhere to go glamping, I decided to road trip to a place not far from D.C. My good friend Jessica (@DiningTraveler) joined this trip along with her little family and my friend/contributor Domanique. Our road trip to Lexington took around two and a half hours. (But it actually felt a lot shorter due to the 90’s R&B playlist we had playing.) Our cozy little cabin was all the way up in the mountains so we had to pick up directions to get there from their check-in place once arriving to Lexington. The cabin was easy to find and easy to access, with no complicated codes–just a single key that led to what felt like a “Free People” photo shoot location. FYI: Check-in is 3 p.m. and check out is 11 a.m. There is also a two-day minimum stay rule.
The Cabin: Our cabin had three rooms, with a big room that led to a beautiful patio. The second room was a little smaller with views of our front porch, and the smaller room was on the back and had one small window with views of the patio. The kitchen area was adorable! The blue cabinets and wooden accents along with the cute white little stove felt like I was in the Sex and The City episode where Carrie saw a squirrel and almost died from a heart attack lol. Thankfully that did not happen to me! My other favorite part was our living room area with the fire place. Martin–aka The Dining Dutchman–made sure to keep the fire burning as us ladies enjoyed a few glasses of wine and cooked dinner. Their outdoor patio is super cute, too. Def big enough for a family of four or more. It was too cold to BBQ, but if you happen to visit during warmer weather, the patio is def a place to grill out at.
Amenities: The cabin comes with kitchen utensils, towels, bath soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Two robes are also available in case you forgot your own. There’s also TV (satellite), central heat/AC, and free parking. There is very good mobile reception but no internet. They also had also plenty of wood to use for their fireplace.
What We Loved: We loved every single moment at this cozy haven! I should also mention how clear you can see the stars at night, and if we had warmer weather, I would have def sat outside with a glass of vino counting them. It was also nice to have all that we needed in the kitchen to cook dinner and brunch! If cooking is not your thing, Lexington has plenty of restaurants and vineyards that you can visit within a reasonable driving time from the cabin. On our way home, we kept the party going by stopping by Rockbridge Vineyards and did a little wine tasting. Love the atmosphere at this place and the local cheese they offer. If wine is not your thing but beer is, stop by Devil’s Backbone Brewery for good beer and pizza.
SCDC Tip: Getting to the cabin without GPS can be a little challenging for someone who can’t live without insta-directions, so at the least, bring a map with you. Also try to arrive there when it’s light out, as it gets very dark at night and finding your way to the cabin might get a little scary. I would also recommend bringing a good backpack with you! The one I bought is from Filson and super comfortable to carry. It’s also durable and well made and it even has a special place for my laptop! This is a very important when you are a blogger. Another item I recommend you bring is a small First Aid kit; you never know how wild you are going to get during your glamping trip! 🙂 Small accidents could happen on trips–especially when a wine cork is very much involved!
