Cuba libre, mojito

Local Love: Cuba Libre

What: Cuba Libre
Where: 8014 9th Street NW, Washington D.C. 20001

Atmosphere: The minute you walk into Cuba Libre, you feel like you have stumbled upon a beautiful movie set. I sadly haven’t had the pleasure of visiting Havana, Cuba (yet!), but I imagine that some of their streets reflect the detailed architecture and decor found at Cuba Libre. Even the festive music playing makes you want to move and will jumpstart your mojito craving right away!

Cuba Libre, albondigas cubanasWhat We Loved: We got to taste a little of everything on the menu and split two main dishes. A few small plates I recommend sharing is their pineapple guacamole cubano, their albondigas cubanas, and their Cuban tamal. For my main dish I ordered the Puerco Cha Cha Cha! I love me some pork, and the way this dish was made, it was happiness in every bite! We also tried a couple of their house-crafted mojitos, with my fave being the passion fruit. I’m also a fan of their Caipirinhas. Surprisingly they also had pretty decent house white wine.

This place is perfect for dinner or the after party on weekends. I plan to come back soon to feed my salsa fix! See you there?
