So it’s been a little while since I wrote anything about style but I thought I’d share some tips for making getting the art of dressed a little easier.
Back in my 20’s I experimented with lots of different looks/styles and had fun with fashion, but as I grew older and moved to the city, I started really just wanting to find pieces that I felt comfortable wearing. I decided to edit my closet with items that made me feel good wearing at all times, and that’s when I realized that my style was pretty much boho/chic. I never felt comfortable wearing tall/skinny heels or super tight dresses. One day I put together a look I really loved and decided that I would style most of my looks the same way. It made my life so much easier! My uniform consists of comfy high-waisted denim, a bodysuit or fitted shirt and a kimono or sort of cover-up. I have fun spicing up this look by switching up my shoe game or adding fun accessories such as a hat or statement belt, but overall my look is the same. See below for samples.
Finding a look that you feel comfortable wearing makes your life a little easier! It cuts out time on deciding what to wear every morning. I used to spend hours trying to pick an outfit before, but now I can put a look together in like five minutes because I already know what my go-to look is. It’s now just a matter of mixing and matching the pieces that I already know look good on me. There are times where donning a fancy dress to an event is required, so I do have a LBD that I know looks good on me in case that occasion comes up. Finding a uniform that you love is also great because you truly embrace your style.
Trends come and go, and it can be exhausting following them all. Having a uniform at the ready might not work for everyone, but I think it’s a great way to truly embrace your unique style. What are your go-to pieces when getting dressed? You can view more of my daily looks on my IG @spicycandydc 🙂
