I used to be a big wine drinker for many, many years! My Savu Blanc and I had incredible moments, going through many ups and downs together. But then I found Mezcal and let me tell you, I never looked back lol!
Mezcal is such a sexy spirit and very low in cals which makes you fall in love even deeper with this spirit lol. For this Cinco de Mayo, I round up five of my favorite bars where I know you can find a good mezcal based cocktail! Salud amigos 🙂
El Bebe: If you are looking for a casual spot with outdoor seating, vegetarian options and a selection of good strong tequila/mezcal based cocktails, this is it! My favorite cocktail at Navy Yard’s El Bebe is called “My Plaloma is Smoking” and it sure is smoking! This insta-worthy cocktail will have you coming back for more! Visit them for Cinco de Mayo from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for their $5 margs (frozen or on the rocks) and $5 guac. Also try their cauliflower tacos! So delicious.
Poca Madre: If you are feeling fancy and are looking for a good-looking patio to match your Cinco de Mayo outfit, this is it! Poca Madre is being a rebel this year by celebrating Cinco de Mayo on the 4th! For $35 you get all the food that you can eat, and let me tell you! Their food is pretty amazing! My favorite cocktail at Poca is their Charlie and the Chapulines Factory. It’s made with, Oaxacan Chapulines, Pineapple, Lemongrass, Japanese Peanuts, Sambal, Farm Egg Shake. so it’s extra healthy babes lol
Buena Vida Clarendon: I can’t say enough good things about Buena Vida. To start their guacamole game is so strong! Trust me on this. To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the restaurant will have a DJ spinning music from 8 p.m. until closing. Guests can enjoy authentic street food of Mexico City. Make sure to try their chiles rellenos. My favorite mezcal cocktail is “The Green Dream”!
Roy Boys: This new Shaw bar is getting the party started early this year, teaming up with my faves at El Silencio to release a lineup of mezcal cocktails that are available right now!
MXDC: I can’t say enough good things about this Mexican restaurant. One of my favorite HH spots in the city! Their cocktail selection is so on point. My favorite cocktail here is their Blackberry Cilantro Margarita, I ask for mine to be made with mezcal and it’s as tasty as it sounds. Looking for something yummy to snack on? You must try their sweet potato tacos and don’t skip on their guac! #delicious. PS: MXDC is celebrating Cinco de Mayo all weekend long! Friday & Saturday $7 Drink Specials/ Sunday – Cinco de Mayo $15 Bottomless Mimosa.
El Techo: This is one of my favorite rooftop bars in the city, and the fact it sells some of the most mezcal in the city is icing on the cake. Three days of Cinco chaos kicks off Friday, May 3, complete with Tulum-inspired vibes, DJs, and its unveiling of its frozen margarita machine making frozen “strawberry-blueberry-lemongrass-mango-infused” mezcal margaritas. A new weather-proof roof will also be unveiled over the weekend. It’s got a clear top to let the sun shine down on all your mezcal drinks!
