What: BABA Bar
2901 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va. 22201
Atmosphere: The first thing that came to mind when entering Baba bar was the word classy, followed by the word sexy! I love the dim lights and the couches that have such fun floral and funky prints. The idea is to make you feel like you are at a hip grandma’s house, complete with her snazzy jazz tunes in the background and retro glassware. Their gallery wall adds a mysterious touch to this amazing place.
What We Loved: Their epic customer service is going to be hard to top! Our server took his time to really talk about the menu and asked us a few questions to also give us his recommendations. All the servers/bartenders were so friendly and always checking on us, making sure we had everything we wanted. At no point was our table empty! I love that the menu is so well organized. Finding a good and spicy cocktail can be a struggle, but BABA bar LOVES spicy/smoky cocktails (as do I) and their menu has a special section for them.
My favorite was “ Malas Palabras” (translated to bad words, in English). It’s not only a pretty cocktail, it’s delicious and has just the right amount of kick! A few other items off the menu that really stood out were their fried shrimp, roasted cauliflower and salmon tartare. And don’t leave without trying the GTF, it’s almost too pretty to drink it(almost!).
SCDC Tip: This secretive spot is so versatile! What do I mean by that? Baba bar is a coffee shop from 8am to 3pm and they serve brunch every day. That is right,EVERY DAY! Finally a place that gets me! Overall this place is cooler than cool and a must (and rare spot) to visit in Arlington. Happy Hour is from 4pm to 7pm.
