Though it’s one hot ticket, this summer isn’t all about the whirlwind run of Hamilton at the Kennedy Center. The legendary D.C. concert hall is also playing host the District of Comedy Festival sponsored by Capital One, so get ready to bust out some big laughs in July – because I think it’s safe to say we could all use some more smiles these days. And it pays off to be a Capital One cardholder. Cardholders can save 50% off the standard ticket price for the District of Comedy Festival when using their Capital One card – read more here.
The weekend kicks off with RIOT!: A Celebration of Women in Comedy on Friday, July 20 with a salute to some serious female icons in the industry. A star-studded lineup of stand-up ladies, writers, actresses, sketch performers, artists and community leaders will take on the stage at the top area performing arts center. And on Saturday, July 21 the star of the show is quite the triple threat, with the award-winning comedian, actor, and writer Patton Oswalt making his Kennedy Center debut. You might recognize Oswalt from his gut-busting appearances on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, for which he received a TV Critics’ Choice Award. The funny man’s got quite a few other Hollywood statues under his belt, releasing the Grammy-winning Talking for Clapping (which the one-hour special of the same name earned him an Emmy) and Grammy-nominated Tragedy Plus Comedy Equals Time that debuted in 2014.
