Hotel Rouge

hotel rougeA few days ago we had the pleasure of staying at the super chic Rouge, one of our favorite Kimpton hotels in the city and here is what we loved!

Katya and I are big fans of staycationing and playing tourists in our own city and one of the best perks of this type of activity is finding hotels we love and creating fun itineraries around them. We’ve been big fans of Kimpton hotels for a very long time and we try to stay at their properties as often as we can so this time we planned a little girls night out around the Rouge. The first thing you notice when walking in is the fun pop of red in the lobby and the alluring Bar Rouge with its sleek decor, bar area, and comfortable lounge areas. I must say, it’s really hard to resist going straight for a drink even before dropping off the bags. As far as rooms goes, we stayed in their double queen room with extra bunk beds. You heard right, BUNK BEDS! The room is super spacious and with the extra bunk beds you can comfortably sleep up to six people. As you know, that’s pretty rare for hotels so this makes it very convenient for large parties — no need to hide extra people here!

Since we checked in around 5PM we had to start our day with the well known Kimptons wine hour which is hosted daily at all of their properties form 5-6PM. This awesome perk also came with the most delicious sweet potato tots as a side snack — a perfect pairing if you ask us. After happy hour we headed to one of our favorite blow out bars, DryBar. It was a much needed pampering and mental break (more about our experience and what we loved in an upcoming post). SCDC Tip: During your staycations treat yourself to something you wouldn’t normally do like a blowout, a massage, or a bike ride around the city. It’s a nice way to break up the routine and make you feel like you’re on vacation even though you’re only a few miles away from home.

After our fabulous blow outs we headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. However, we all know a proper girls night out can’t start without some much needed catch up time and “pre-gaming” in the room. Of course, long gone are the days of heavy pre-drinking and shots in the room, but that feeling of needing some private time with your girl friends before hitting the town is definitely still something we treasure, so you better believe there was some vino involved.Kimpton hotel, staycation

DC boutique hotelsNow on to dinner. There are many restaurants that we can recommend when you stay in our city but this time we decided on Toro Toro because we’ve heard wonderful things about their menu and the amazing Latin party on their lower level. The experience was amazing, read more about Toro Toro HERE!

Overall our stay at Hotel Rouge was wonderful. We wish we had an additional day to fully enjoy other amenities such as their in-room spa services, hotel bikes, in-room yoga mats, and so much more, but there is always a next time. Thank you Rouge for such a wonderful experience, we can’t wait to be back.

If you have an upcoming trip to DC or just need a little staycation (especially with a larger party) we can’t recommend Hotel Rouge enough! Visit their webisite HERE and drop us a line if you have any questions.
