A few weeks ago, I got the chance to experience my first blogger press trip to OBX! I’m not going to lie, I was a bit nervous about it as I had to share my stay with four other travel bloggers. As I arrived to the house, I felt like I was walking in as one of the Real World cast members, hoping and praying I wasn’t the one they would all hate! LOL! To my surprise, the feeling went away as soon as I met the lovely ladies a.k.a my OBX blogger squad! (Monica, Shelby, Susannah, and Meg)
OBX is located only five and a half hours away from Washington DC. I’ve heard great things about OBX prior to visiting, so I was quite excited for this adventure. During the four days I was there, we stayed in two different locations. Below is a description of both locations and what I loved about them.
Carolina Designs Realty: Our first few nights at OBX, we spent it at this beautiful house located right on the beach with a killer view of the ocean! The house had 8 bedrooms, 9 full bathrooms, a pool, hot tub, fireplace, grill and most importantly FREE high-speed wifi. It is located in the popular Nags Head Oasis community.
We were mostly in and out of the house but the few hours we spent there, we definitely took advantage of all it had to offer. The house gave me a calm feeling and I loved that it had its own private beach walkway.
The house is perfect for either a family vacation, a bachelorette party or a fun friends trip. It’s also big enough to give each person some privacy and there are tons of activities everyone can do aside from going out and exploring OBX. You’ll even find a pool table and a media lounge that features a projection screen with a good sound system. Perfect for movie night if you’re feeling lazy! The Sanderling Resort: I have heard wonderful reviews about The Sanderling Resort, so when finding out that this was the second location where we would spend our final days in OBX, I was excited!
To begin, the resort is simply beautiful and the customer service we got from the minute we entered the resort was top notch. I’ve stayed at a few resorts before and I’m usually not a fan because I feel like it only caters to families with kids. I love family trips but having the option to escape for a bit into a much more adult setting, where I don’t have to be surrounded by a lot of noise, is nice. The Sanderling Resort caters to both worlds and it definitely stood out.
As soon as we settled in our rooms, we hit their outside bar area, which is right next to their tranquility pool that caters to adults only. At the pool you can enjoy food and drinks. The pool is open from 7am to 10pm. If you are a parent and is looking for a place to relax with your little ones, you can visit their Resort pool. They also have an indoor pool, where you can get your swim on even if it rains.
The Sanderling Resort has three separate beach accesses. They provide you with umbrellas, towels and chairs for a fun day at the beach! Once you are done playing in the sand, enjoy a fun evening at their outdoor fire pit, which is open until 10pm. The one detail I really loved is that each room comes with a welcome kit of crackers, a chocolate bar, and marshmallows for you to make s’mores at the fire pit! So much fun.
This is a great place to visit with your family or come alone with your significant other. I look forward to coming back again soon and staying for at least 3 days to fully enjoy all of their amenities. Book your stay at The Sanderling Resort HERE!
