SCDC Travels: Napa Travel Diary

It’s been over a month since our Napa trip and this travel diary is way overdue. We’ve been getting a lot of questions about where to stay and what to do while there, so here is our little recap and our favorite spots.

Our picks for where to stay: We love Yountville, St. Helena and downtown Napa. They are all about 20min or so driving distance from one another on the most scenic roads lined with grape vines, roses, and beautiful views. During this trip we stayed at the Westin Verasa in downtown Napa and really loved it. They have a heated pool, jacuzzi, and a great wine hour in the downstairs lobby. It’s also 2min from the Oxbow Public Market where you will seriously have the best huevos rancheros of your life. During my first visit to Napa a few years ago, I had the pleasure of staying at the Bardessono in Yountville and it is by far my favorite in Napa. We went there twice for wine and appetizers this time – the property is beautiful, make sure to check it out even if you don’t stay there. You’ll love their grounds and gardens. Oh and their restaurant/lobby bathroom has a really refreshing surprise, make sure to use it 🙂

Sara and Arash’s wedding took place at the Meadowood, and we had the pleasure of experiencing its beauty. That is definitely another wonderful option if you’re looking for a luxurious stay!

Our picks for what to do: Definitely visit the Oxbow Public Market. It’s filled with great vendors, food options, and the best Mexican food place I’ve had in a while. Also while there, stop by Model bakery and try their world famous english muffins – they are seriously the best we’ve ever had. We didn’t have the chance to do too much wine tasting on this trip with the wedding festivities, but we did enjoy one afternoon of tastings. Our favorite was Mumm Sparklingtasting flights. It was so so good (and who knew Santana had his own bubbly?). Another favorite for a great outdoor lunch with a view is Auberge du Soleil I wish I could remember the bottle of bubbly we had there because it was seriously the best. Worth every penny of the $50! Finally, as I mention above, spend an afternoon walking around Yountville and stop by and grab lunch (and vino of course) at Bardessono. We loved the strawberries from their garden paired up with the bubbly. Enjoy your trip to Napa and let us know if you discover more amazing places to see and things to do!
