So much has happened since March, aka when the city shut down! Our lives are forever changed, and our “new normal” looks kind of crazy. But, here we are! One thing I’m doing during the quarantine is following all the rules to help stop the spread of the virus. One of the most important guidelines right now is to wear a face mask in public places, even if you are practicing social distancing, six feet apart. This weird way of life is here to stay for a while, so to make things less depressing, a lot of people like myself are opting to rock masks that bring them some sort of “joy” — if that’s a thing lol.
Below are five masks made by DMV locals for every type of personality and style pref.
For the fashionista: So excited to get my masks made by my friend, LaShawn! She is the designer behind the brand Sun Gods. She started making masks for nurses, but now she’s made them available to the public. Can we talk about her hip patterns — so boho chic! They are priced under $20 and you have plenty of face masks looks to choose from.
For the cool girl/guy in the city: I’ve been a fan of Kelly Towles for SO LONG! Truly a talented local artist who’s always reppin’ DC in the coolest way. Towles is now selling masks with fun DC-themed designs. I obvi had to get mine with Cappy, aka the Capitol lookin’ all cute! The masks are $20 and pretty well made. I call it my “casual” mask. I usually rock it when I go grocery shopping and I often get people smiling at me with their eyes (that’s a thing now!) lol #smize
For the mom or any member of the family: The masks by Lil Fishy designs are adorable! They are 2 ply, made of 100% cotton and muslin fabric. You have multiple colorful patterns to choose from. This is the best place to shop for masks for the entire family, as they also sell kid-sized masks.
For the foodie girl or boy in your life: OMG! If you love food as much as I do, you are going to love the yummy prints on these masks. Sadly, they are currently all sold out, because yes! They are that delicious. If you are an avocado or pizza fan, they got you covered. I’m patiently waiting until a batch of them are available again. They do sell other items, such as dish towels and some cool quarantine gift sets, that also sport fun foodie patterns.
For the fancy lady: If you are looking to step up your street style, the masks at Dmaran are for you. They arrive as a set with a matching headband! You can also just purchase a face mask for $10. Just DM the designer via IG and she’ll custom make one for ya!
For the girl or guy who loves statement pieces: If there is one thing I love when dressing up, is adding that statement accessory that brings your outfit together. Wink Goods has plenty of cool prints to up your face mask game!
There you have it! My favorite places to shop for a mask in the DMV. I’m sure there are a ton more, so if you are a small business owner that is selling masks, shoot me a DM and I’m happy to add to the list! Also make sure to visit my shop local section on the bloggy.
Happy mask shopping babes 🙂
