Shop Local: Mother’s Day Edition

I can’t believe Mother’s Day is almost here, and sadly, a lot of us (including myself) will only be seeing mom via Facetime or a Zoom call this year #sadface 🙁 Despite the distance, we can still brighten mom’s day next Sunday by sending her something thoughtful, while also supporting some local shops at the same time! Below are some gift ideas to send mom.

If you are looking to mail mom flowers, you have plenty of options.

melissas creations, mothers day flowers, flower arrangement

Melissa’s Creation: A fresh bouquet of blooms is the perfect way to tell someone you are thinking about them. Melissa’s flower arrangements are gorgeous. The price ranges from $64 to $105, and you can order by phone or send her a message on the ‘gram ( Update: Their Mother’s day flower arrangements are currently sold out but you can still purchase a gift card to redeem after May 10th)

The flower lux, flower arrangements, mothers day

The Flower Lux: The “infinity preserved” rose arrangements from The Flower Lux are super elegant! The best part is these colorful petals last an entire year — talk about flower power! Lots of options to choose from. You can place your order online ($109 to $219). They also sell classy cards.

A beautiful care package is always a good idea.

Self-care / Skincare:

skincando, selfcare, mothers day

Skincando: I think moms, especially those with little ones, are truly the most stressed right now. I swear by my Skincando products, so treat mom to a few top-notch organic skincare products. Use code SPRING15 for a 15% off discount. If you want to splurge even more on mom, you can also purchase a gift card to their garden spa, so she can visit for a needed day of proper pamering when it’s back open.

take care shop, mothers day care package, masks

Take Care Shop: This store has everything your mom prob wants and needs for the ultimate self-care gift. Send her a diverse care package with everything from a solid scented candle, a nice mask, to (why not?) a brand new lipstick to remind your glam mom how bad ass she truly is.

Gift Card to Local Restaurant: Give mom the gift of not having to do the dishes! Send her a few gift cards to her favorite local restaurants so she knows she has a few days off from cooking for the fam. A few restaurant suggestions below.

dolci gelati, gelato pints

Buena Vida/Ambar: Taco night? Or perhaps a Balkan-themed evening? Your choice, but these two sister restaurants never disappoint.

El Tamarindo: One word, PUPUSAS! They truly are the best and great for family gatherings.

Dolci Gelati: A Mother’s Day cake is always a good idea, or perhaps four pints of her favorite gelato flavors.

Primrose: For $150 a month, get mom into the coolest wine club! This includes delivery for 6 bottles of wine each month, plus secret online tastings. This liquid love might score you super extra son/daughter points! 🙂 You can also just treat her to a fried chicken bucket and some bubbly with a gift card from Primrose.

Seven Reasons: If mom wants to get fancy one night, a nice takeout dinner from Seven Reasons is perfect! They also have carryout craft cocktails.

Napoli Pasta Bar: How about a solid brunch for mom? Napoli Pasta Bar is now offering brunch for take out or delivery. Order via their website. They also have family meals available. This is one of my favorite DC restaurants, trust me! Mom will be impressed. (Update: They are now offering a 3-course ready to bake Mother’s Day menu! How awesome is that!)

I can go on with the list of restaurants, but hope these ideas help inspire! 🙂 I can’t wait until we can all visit our moms again. Immagine that first tight hug!
