What: The Lafayette at The Hay-Adams
800 16th St. , NW, Washington, DC 20006
Atmosphere: : The minute you walk into this historic hot spot you feel like a total VIP! The restaurant overlooks Lafayette Square and the White House. There is lots of natural light that floods in the large paned windows, but if you plan to visit for dinner, the super chic chandeliers will sure wow you along with every little detail around the restaurant.
What We Loved: Aside from the amazing super-classy atmosphere, we def loved the food from exec chef Nicolas Legret, and of course, the cocktail/wine selection. I got to taste their seasonal cherry blossom cocktail, the pisco blossom, and it was as refreshing as it sounds! (And real cherry blossoms growing outside the window added a little extra ambiance.) Another item off the menu that stood out was the Maryland Crabmeat Mille-Feuille! It left me craving more. And don’t even think about leaving without trying their Grand Marnier Souffle! The presentation of this dessert is gorgeous.
SCDC Tip: This is the restaurant where you can wear that classy LBD you’ve been dying to show off! DO it. During my visit I saw Laura Bush casually dining behind me in a smart business suit and I felt a bit under dressed, so don’t let this happen to you! Lol. Looking to take your man or lady somewhere fancy this weekend? They are currently still offering their Japanese-inspired three-course menu, priced at only $75 per person. Make that reservation now.
